Batter Stabilization Mix™
Batter Stabilization Mix™ is a stabilization media with good structural integrity when used on gradients. Designed to function as a permeable growing media resistant to erosion and runoff, yet supportive of plant.
Description
Specification – S23. Batter Stabilisation Mix
Part A:
“Fit-for-purpose” Performance Description
This mix functions as a growing media on significant gradient. The mix is designed to support plant growth whilst resisting movement down slope driven
by water and wind erosion.
Site surface preparation prior to installation is important to the success of the product once installed. Specific details are located in the Handling
& Installation information.

Handling & Installation
This product requires compost manufactured under AS4454 certified composting processes.
General
|
Batter Stabilisation Mix™ functions as a structurally sound surface applied growing media on gradient. The mix is designed to support
plant growth whilst resisting movement down slope against water and wind erosion.
|
Site Preparation
|
Wherever possible, the surface onto which this product is placed should be lightly tined so that the Batter Mix can key into the slope. Avoid
a smooth & compacted finish as this will significantly impact upon the efficacy of this product.
Vegetative cover crops sown into the Batter Stabilisation Mix™ may be intolerant of sub surface material that is highly alkaline, so the use of liming or similar stabilizing agents applied to the surface must be considered in terms of their potential impact on plant growth. |
Installation
|
This product can be installed either as bulk loose media spread with standard labour & mechanical equipment such as excavators & bobcats,
or has the ability to be applied via Greenblower® unit.
When installed via blower unit, this product is limited to a maximum blowable distance of 90m down slope from the Greenblower® truck & 60m from the truck on the flat. |
Seedling & Planting | This product is designed to support most species commonly used as cover crops and batter stabilisation vegetation. Where there a more specific
nutritional requirements or limitations, such as issues pertaining to phosphorus sensitivity, please consult our qualified horticulturists
for amended or site specific formulations.
|
It is critical that cover crops are established as quickly as possible to minimize the impact of serious erosion resulting from significant
rain events or storms. It is important that surface moisture is maintained during the first week post seeding to maximize germination and
early growth. This mix is very porous and free draining and as such will support rapid root development. However, this aspect of the mix
exposes it to rapid dehydration until the cover crop is established
We recommend that a water maintenance program be implemented particularly during the first month post seeding. |
