Description

Specification – S23. Batter Stabilization Mix™

Part A: “Fit-for-purpose” Performance Description

Batter Stabilization Mix™ is a stabilization media with relatively good structural integrity when used on gradients. This product supports low profile vegetation (primarily grasses) on gradients up to 35°. Steeper gradients may necessitate amendments or alterations to improve resistance to wash under load from heavy rain.

Part C: Handling and Installation

General: Batter Stabilization Mix™ functions as a structurally sound surface applied growing media on gradient. The mix is designed to support plant growth whilst resisting movement down slope against water and wind erosion.

Site Preparation: Wherever possible, the surface onto which this product is placed should be lightly tined so that the mix can key into the slope. Avoid a smooth & compacted finish as this will significantly impact upon the efficacy of this product.

Vegetative cover crops sown into the Batter Mix™ may be intolerant of sub surface material that is highly alkaline. Liming or other stabilizing agents applied to the surface must be considered in terms of potential impact on plant growth.

Installation: This product can be installed either as bulk loose media spread with standard labour & mechanical equipment such as excavators & bobcats, or has the ability to be applied via Greenblower® unit.

When installed via blower unit, this product is limited to a maximum blowable distance of 90m down slope from the Greenblower® truck & 60m from the truck on the flat.

Seeding & Planting:This product is designed to support most species commonly used as cover crops and batter stabilization vegetation. Where there a more specific nutritional requirements or limitations, such as issues pertaining to phosphorus sensitivity, please consult our qualified horticulturists for amended or site specific formulations.

Plant Management: Early cover crop established minimizes erosion from rain events or storms. Maintain moisture during the first week post seeding to maximize germination and growth. This mix is porous, supporting rapid root growth. However, this exposes it to dehydration until the cover crop established. A water maintenance program should be implemented during the first month post seeding.
